The BIOS - how do you enter it?

Hi, one of you gave me the URL for the manual for the MB on my HP PC on 1/7.
I downloaded what HP claims was the manual for the MB. However the manual
is nothing but some spec's for the MB with no information on how to enter
the BIOS or make changes there.

IOW what's called a manual is a just a spec sheet. The MB mgf site doesn't
list the MB on this 18 month old PC. Where else can this information be
located?

Usually the way to enter the BIOS is to hit the delete key. Some systems have
F1/F2 as the key.
When you start your system there is a message at the bottom of the screen that
normally says hit XXXX to enter the BIOS

If you donnot know the Key you can do the following

Turn off the power to the computer.. ( UNPLUG the POWER )

Unplug The KEYBOARD

turn the Computer on..

It will give you an Error and it will Tell you To Hit a Certain KEY to
ENTER SETTING. Thats ur Answer

Now Turn off the POWER ( pull The plug) Reconnect the Keyboard and
start up the computer and Keep Tapping that key it told you!!

But freespirit You sound as if U Donnot need to be in bios to Change
things..

Thanks Peter,....I just gave in and called HP for the information. The
screen you mention flys by so fast it's unreadable.

To get into the BIOS (on a HP Desktop) it's tap F1 as it boots - he walked
me through resetting the BIOS to the default setting. We'll see if that
works. There is *no manual* available for my MB.

I notice when techs here reply to people they assume the PCs mfg.'s give
manuals. Unfortunately they don't.

I called a HP tech and he walked me through resetting it. Some program (?)
changed something he said, so now I'll see if that fixed the "power
monitor." I agree that I am not qualified to make changes there. :)
