That Illusive C:\RECYCLER folder

S

Sammye

Despite Virus and firewall programs, I've somehow gotten
an embedded trojan which my AV can't remove. The
beginning of the supposed path is:

C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21.......\Content.IE5\..........

Obviously, this not the Recycle Bin and I can't see it
when I show all folders, so I'm assuming it's some kind
of system folder that's really hidden!!!

All help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Greetings --

Actually, that _is_ the hidden system folder to which the
Desktop's "Recycle Bin" shortcut points. To clear it of unwanted
files, simply empty the Recycle Bin.

There is nothing in the Recycle Bin....and I can't find a
way to access this folder.

Jas, I use AVG --- which pretty much updates daily!! I
also run the AV program daily.

As for the link Mary provided, it didn't help in the
least because those instructions are geared to people who
use Symantic or Norton products. I am using AVG.

I will try scanning in the "safe mode", but I don't think
that's going to make a difference. I STILL cannot get to
that folder.

And the registry keys it suggests changing are not in my
registry.

Will report more after Safe Mode scan.
