If I use my notebook with Word 2007 to read from when giving a presentation
or a speech, can the speech document be set to scroll on the screen
automatically at a regular rate (adjustable ?) without using a mouse ?

There's no provision for that in Word. Whether something could be done
through VBA I'm not sure but perhaps someone more familiar with coding will
peek in with a suggestion.

OTOH, a PPt presentation can be set to advance automatically based on slide
timings which you can not only vary per slide but can also be reset as you
need. If you're simply looking for notes - as opposed to actually reading
the script word for word - that might be the way to go.

It is amazing to me that this simple function is either not available or available in such a complex fashion in Word. The ability to scroll a speech one is giving (live or via videotape) is one of the most common needs that anyone with a laptop first thinks of doing. It could become a teleprompter with this function if it were readily available. Page up and page down in Powerpoint is not a solution because it would make reading awkward and disjointed. It is the scrolling function that would make it truly helpful. "Thanks......billca3
