Text not visible in some parts of Antispyware Beta 1

I don't know were else to report this. I can't find a
mechanism for providing feedback about problems with the
Beta. I do hope MS staff read this forum.

I am visually impaired and use Windows High Contrast Black
colour settings to get white text on a black background.

With this colour scheme not all text in the Antispyware
Beta 1 windows is visible eg. the drop-down settings in the
options windows. Nor are the check boxes when trying to set
which folders to scan. A large white rectangle appears on
the main window (window being black with this colour
setting) but has nothing visible in it.

This sort of "invisible text" problem when using the High
Contrast" colour schemes is endemic right through MS
products since Windows 3.11 (3.11 was the last OS that
handled colours OK).

Microsoft staff do read these messages.

The current product is largely code from another company which was
purchased. Beta2 will be written with the standards that you have in mind
considered from the beginning.

However, your citation that other current Microsoft products also don't
handle the settings you need (which I have some distant familiarity with)
properly gives me some pause.

Here's what I hope you can do:

When beta2 is released, go through the product carefully with your specific
needs in mind. Post here, and, ideally, send me a private email--remove the
last two . terms from my posted address for a valid email--with your
findings--especially if negative. That'll be the time to get feedback
quickly to the development team about whether their product meets your needs
well or not--and I will do my best to make sure that feedback gets to the
right folks.

Hello Bill,

Many thanks for that response. I shall watch out for Beta 2
and report back.

BTW I used the MS Antispyware web site feedback facility to
report that the web site itself has problems displaying
text colours properly when completing forms. The feedback
form itself for one is OK in some fiels but not in others.
But this is a very common problem with many web sites not
handling text colours properly.

I note that Windows Text and Message Text are separate
object have but their properties linked. Change Windows
Text to white and Message Text changes too (this stops me
getting the exact screen colours I'd like). I've often
wondered if this is the cause of the problem.

Thanks again.

Bruce.

If you are familiar with accessing public newsgroups,

microsoft.public.windowsxp.acessibility

ought to be a good place to ask that question (about the text properties)
and perhaps get an informed answer. I haven't read that group recently, so
I don't know whether the folks who misunderstand the group purpose heavily
outweigh the on-topic posts, or not.

Here's a web URL to that group
