Text box and graphics print with outline

Printing from Word 2003 to HP LaserJet 2430.
Text boxes (set to No Line) print with a thin line.
Text watermarks print with a box around each character.
Word Art characters (set to No Line) print with each character outlined.

Problem does not occur consistently, e.g. load the file and print without
problems. Print a second time and lines appear.

Any suggestions?

Problem does not occur consistently, e.g. load the file and print without

As soon as the problems are not consistent, things get ugly!

If you are positive that, with the very same file, between a "good" and
a "bad" printout, the printer driver and its settings have not been
changed, then the printer itself (hardware) might be the culprit.

Other than that, I'd check the printer driver settings _very_ carefully
for any setting that might deal with print quality. Also, updating the
driver, and switching between PCL and PS drivers (if available) is an idea.
