text borders within a text box

I have a text box with a bunch of text and I want to put a small text border
around some of the words. Is there a way to do that. In Word, it can be
done, but I don't see it offered as an option in Powerpoint. The only other
way, is to draw blank boxes with a fine border and place them on the page,
but it's not nice. When the text moves, the boxes aren't in the right place
any more.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If the text isn't part of a placeholder, you can use the workaround you
described then select the text and the rectangles you used to create the
outlines and group them. That'll keep the whole works together.
