Terminal Session shown as DOWN but I can't reset it.

Hi There,

1. Win2k3 terminal Server
2. Clients running Outlook 2000
3. Outlook hangs on client session, so client disconnects.
4. When client tries to reconnect, session still has "hung" outlook
ofcourse.

If you leave it long enough, Server will attempt to logoff idle clients (2
hours is what I set it to) although when I come back to Terminal Services
Manager (hours later) I see the session there but the STATE is "DOWN" and
when I try to RESET it, I get an error telling me that it is currently in
the middle of a LOGOFF or a RESET or something.

The only way to fix it is to restart the server - client is getting annoyed.

When I look at the Process list, I see that OUTLOOK is still running and I
can't even end the OUTLOOK process either???

Any ideas?

Have you applied all the latest updated to your Outlook
2000 program? A program not being able to close is
typically solved with some updates...hopefully.

Thanks Matthew,

I don't know why it hadn't occurred to me to look for service packs for
"OFFICE" itself. Doh!

I have applied the Office Service Pack 3 (including the Disc 2 service pack)
and also applied the appropriate OUTLOOK patches. I will monitor the server
now and see how she goes. I usually find out in the space of 8 hours if it
is going to behave itself.
