Temporary Upgrade Files and Installers

I have a LOT of folders and files that look like this....

C:\WINDOWS\$MSI31Uninstall_KB893803v2$

They are Windows update files and installers. They're hidden. And they're
taking up almost 2 GIG of Harddrive space. Can I delete them without
suffering any consequences, and if so, how should I best go about deleting
them?

Those folders are there in case you need to uninstall a hotfix
or update. It's usually a good idea to wait a few weeks before
you delete the folders just to make sure the update is working
properly. Do not delete the folder named $hf_mig$.

Here are a couple of articles which you might want to look at.
