Temporary Internet Files directory keeps getting changed

A

Aloke Prasad

This is using the latest IE6 on XPPro (with admin privileges)and latest
ZAPro 5.05

The cache directory (and History and Cookies) keeps getting set to

C:\Documents and Settings\Aloke\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files

instead of where it should be, ie

C:\Documents and Settings\Aloke\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Despite me changing it back to the above setting, occasionally I will notice
the switch (like when my cookies info gets "lost".

Is there any way to FIX the location of these IE directories (cache,
cookies, history)?

Thanks

I have just downloaded it too, and I have noticed a few new things too, and
not sure if iI like them or not. I kept my old original verson download, in
case I do want to keep the new one. But, check the Zone Alarm Forum, as
there are numerous postings there in regards to many new problems, so see if
yours is there too. They may have the answer you are looking for and you can
find out very quickly. So far, I have not found anything.
But....heh.....I'm really a newbie, I just finally got the nerve to install
it about half an hour ago. ;-))

Someone else may have the answer, but, I'd say this is a good place to stay
tuned anyway. <g>

So far, no one has acknowledged the bug.

Is there any way to lock down the location of these IE directories?

Where are the locations stored in the Registry (for Windows and ZA)?

I'm sorry that I can't give you more information, although someone else here
may have a solution to for your problem.

Perhaps this is something that has not yet come to light, so it has not been
brought to the attention of those at Zone Labs, the makers of the Zone Alarm
program. You might try contacting them direct and ask them this question
and see of they can give you an answer. Their technical support is reported
to be very responsive. You can contact them at the website below.

You might also try the microsoft.public.windowsme.general newsgroup. There
is a responder there named Heirloom, who uses Zone Alarm and he really puts
them to a test, so he may be a good bet for an answer. You can try to PING
him by name and I am sure he will respond.

Good luck with finding a solution for your problem. :)
