3 major parts installed in the last couple of days..

Maxtor 80GB

Maxtor 320GB

Corsair TX750W PSU

Upgraded motherboard, CPU and RAM a couple of months ago (MS-6526, P4 2.8
and 2GB RAM)

Set up out of case with barebones setup installed Windows 2000 Pro, fully
updated drivers and windows, everything seamed to be fine but now the system
hangs after a few minutes, the 80GB HDD makes a slight grinding noise (it may
continue running and then a few minutes laster same thing but will freeze
completely and then I get..

***STOP: 0x0000007A (0xE20DD574, 0x000000E, 0xA014DBD1, 0x163C7860)
KERNAL_DATA_PAGE_ERROR
***ADDRESS A014DBD1 BASE AT A0000000 DATE STAMP 45ed063d - WIN32K.SYS
Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump completed contact system administrator

Kevin,

The info in this KB article sounds like your error to some extent as
far as it being win32k.sys specific and a 0x0000007A stop:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913379

I did a quick search of your MSI motherboard and saw the last BIOS for
it was version 3.5. Is this current on your machine?

You could always update the win32k.sys from this KB article as it's
the latest I know of: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941880

Click the link http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=6294451 and fill in the
information and within 6-8 hours you'll get a link to download the
patch.

If that doesn't work, you could also install the fix from this KB
article as well: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934205

From what's mentioned in KB941880, it COULD be both win32k.sys and /
or atapi.sys causing issues. Or not. Check the BIOS version first.

Ok, I guess I missed this part. You're in a Windows XP group, not
Windows 2000.

Yes as the patches are XP specific.

Guess I should repost the original in Technet - General then.
