hi, i know you can change the place of your temperary
internet files folder. but my question is: can i chenge
my temp files folder.
My c drive is almost full( made it too small :S)
but i have more than enough space on my E drive.
I want to do this because some games unpack in your temp
folder before installing it on the drive I chose.
so everytime i want to install that game, it unpacks in
temp folder, now my c drive is full and the installation
cannot be completed.

another question, when i click on my C drive and select
preferences it says i used 4.5 GB. But when i select all
the files in my C drive and right click, preferences, it
says the files i selected are 3.1 GB big.
(hidden files are also selected) howcome?

Mark--

Along the lines of your real estate management, another compelling reason
besides your games to leave 20-30% of free space on each drive is so that
you'll actually get an effective defrag when you do it on each drive. As
you probably appreciate, defragging often and well can dramatically improve
your performance--and this will optimize your game playing as well. I find
it useful to install certain programs on certain drives and to parcel out
the very large apps and downloads, and to delete temporary files that you
don't need.

1) Moving TIFs--Temporary Internet Files is easy: Tools>Internet
Options>Settings>Move Folder.

2) *Moving Temporary Files* (must be NTFS partition):

3) Could the *page file* and *hidden files* account for this size
discrepancy when you select and get the smaller number?

Yes. Make a folder eg D:\TEMP on another drive then go to Control Panel
- System - Advanced and at the bottom click Environmental Variables.

Add entries in both the upper Personal section and in the lower System
variables section (or Edit ones that are there) for TEMP and TMP (some
programs still use the shorter reference), setting them to D:\TEMP

OK out and reboot to bring them into effect
