Empty Temp Folders v2.8.3

http://www.danish-shareware.dk/soft/emptemp/index.html

Empty Temp Folders (emptemp) helps you manage folders that contain
temporary files, left over by other applications. It's easy to add any
folder and you can empty a folder (or all folders) with one click.

Also emptemp will let you list and delete cookies, history files and
temporary internet files (this requires MS Internet Explorer version
5+).

Emptemp also has a search function to let you find and delete
temporary files outside the normal temp folders. Any program can leave
behind temporary files or backup files anywhere on your harddisk.
These files have file types like .tmp, .bak, .old and .log. You can
add your own file types.

Emptemp also displays the amount of memory the content of the
clipboard takes up, and lets you delete it. And it can find broken
shortcuts (.lnk files) on your harddisk, so you can delete or fix
them.

Good program.
It will clean/delete all kind of obscure folders (if told to do so)
eg. the cache.trash of Firefox.

Hey Fred,

I tried it a while back but I forget: Will it run at Windows start, delete
temp files in folders of your choice, and remove itself from memory? (That's
my preferred way to manage temp junk)

Thanks,,,

Bob,

Had a look at the Help file. Yes, it says that it "clean all at
startup and then close". Personally I use it "manually".

Have fun, Fred

Used it for years, even with the Windows 9x machines. He's been saying for
a couple of years that version 2.9 is coming soon. I don't see how he could
really improve it much, though.

On XP boxes the only thing you really have to watch out for is on the "Find
tmp files" panel, DO NOT check the Zero bytes box on the left, or you will
wipe out all your "show desktop" icons, which are not really icons, they
are system files actually rather than shortcuts.

It's a very nice and fast program with a lot of options and even gets some
files that other programs miss, because you can add folders, like your PAR2
folders, for cleaning, which otherwise could build up after a while, etc.

Very nice, been using it for ages. Something I found ...... I use Xnews
as a newsreader and after a session reading newsgroups, for some reason,
Xnews leave a lot of zero sized files in my C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\Temporary
Internet Files\Content.IE5\ folders. Windows DiskCleanup leaves them
behind but EmpTemp cleans them up. Brilliant.

Does this run under XP? Not sure from reading the description in the
download screen.
