TcpWindowSize and MTU registry keys

Hi,

I try to optimize the MTU and the congestion window size on my laptop
for a wireless connection using a PCMCIA 3G card. I'm adapting the
corresponding register keys on the interface (i.e. in
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interface\<Inteface_Name>)

Usually, I'm modifying the keys to some given values and then setup the
wireless connection using the software provided by my ISP but WITHOUT
rebooting the computer. It turns out that sometimes, the values of the
keys are correctly taken into account and sometimes not. I was not able
to find any logic or reason to this appearently random way to take
these keys into account (well of course, they are correctly setup when
I'm rebooting the computer ...but I would like to avoid this)

Does anybody get some informations about this fact ?

Thank you very much,

Fred.

TCP Optimizer
http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php

Run it, check the box, "Modify all Network Adapters" and "Optimal Settings", click the "Apply
changes" button, Set MTU to 1500 for Cable or 1492 for DSL, and reboot for the settings to take
effect. Any changes made to the registry do not take effect until you reboot.
