Jules,

Are you getting this message after connecting to the internet?

Do you get it when making the connection, or when opening your browser?

This could be a MTU setting problem, if it's PPPoE.

http://www.mynetwatchman.com/kb/adsl/pppoemtu.htm

If MTU isn't the problem, provide ipconfig information for you computer, after
connecting to the internet.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name and version) with each ipconfig listing.

From a command window:
1) Ping www.yahoo.com.
2) Ping 66.94.230.33.
Report success / exact text of error messages.

From your browser:
3) Browse www.yahoo.com.
4) Browse 66.94.230.33.
Report success / exact text of error messages.

Cheers,
Chuck

Hi Chuck,
have done as you suggested and its not the MTU thing.
The message comes up when i try and connect to broadband. I havnt
actually connected to it yet at all. Still using plain old dial up.
Do you still need the other stuff from the command window that you
suggested?
Thanks for trying to help. Had just about given up

Jules,

If you still have a problem, it's worth investigating. The other stuff should
help identify the problem.

Dialup sucks. I sure hope you're not paying for broadband if you can't use it.
The ILECs don't deserve money they don't work for. #-{

Jules,

As you suggested above, the yahoo pings (and everything else) is not terribly
useful except when performed under the problematic broadband configuration.

Also, I'm not sure if you're having a problem executing
"ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt"
as it appears that you're typing the output from ipconfig by hand. You should
be able to copy and paste the contents of c:\ipconfig.txt into your posts.

Please repeat the ipconfig and yahoo diagnoses when configured for and connected
to broadband, then post the results. That should provide clues what to check
next.

Be patient and persistent, and we may sort this.

Cheers,
Chuck

Jules,

Is that IPConfig produced just after you got the 769?

See if this looks useful:
