tcp ip protocol won't install

Jeff

I've got a XP Pro SP2 laptop where the tcp/ip protocol does not exist.
Every time I try to install it tells me a file is missing. (What file is
missing?) I followed the Microsoft post for reinstalling tcp/ip by
deleting the Winsock and Winsock2 entries in the registry, restarting,
then finding nettcpip.inf and install, after re-start still no protocol.

Any ideas ?

thanx

Jeff

Jeff,

Do you have the Windows XP CD, or the setup files stored on the hard drive?

Were you prompted for the XP CD when installing the nettcpip.inf? What's the SP level of your system?
