tcp/ip network transport not installed

since i downloaded the sp2 update several functions are not working properly.
when ever i launch a browser it immediatly closes. i can not access the
internet. i get a message that says tcp/ip network transport not installed. i
have attempted to reinstall it to no avail, even using tech support. any
suggestions, are the problems related to the sp2 update...further note,
system restore does not work either. help is appreciated...many thanks

I have the same problem but I had related it to messing in regedit and
deleted the wrong thing I have not figured out how to reinstall sp2 fom a
downloaded version my next thought has been to boot from xp disc and do a
repair to see if that works and system restore would not work for me either.
