TCP/IP Dies After A While

Hi Guy's

Just wondering of anyone can help me. I have XP Pro with
all update except SP1 and of late I have been having a
weird issue.

I am on cable and basically my connection dies. Not my
cable but TCP/IP on my machine just stop's. What happens
is when TCP/IP dies that if you try to run any TCP
program (eg ping, tracert, ipconfic etc) you get an error
message saying the file failed to initialize.

If I right click on the LAN icon and select repair I get
a TCP/IP error saying that it could not continue. If I
try to use my dial up connection what happens is it
dial's handshakes then I get "Error 1450 - Insufficient
system resources exist to complete the requested service".

The weird thing is if I re-boot it works fine. Some time
for day's on end other for only a few minutes however
each and everytime a re-boot will fix it.

I am not running any firewall other than XP's own built
in one and am at a loss as to what may be causing this
let alone the fix.

Is there anyone that may be able to assist me with this?

Thanks
Phillip

(PS If you could reply via email it would be appreciated)

Phillip:

What kind of a cable modem are you using? I had a somewhat similar
problem with a 3COM modem that was supposedly DICSIS compliant. I
never could decide whether the D-Link hub/router I use was bad, or the
modem. I replaced the modem with a new Toshiba and the problem went
away. 3COM was not providing driver updates for my older modem.

DO you have the latest driver installed on your modem?
