TCP/IP connection to win2000

Harry

I have two PCs on LAN. One has win2000 and the other has
WinNT. They are connected by Linksys router.

TCP/IP is installed on both and IP address is assigned by
router automaticlly.

I am tring to use PING to test TCP/IP connection between
the two PCs.

My problem is that I can PING winNT from win2000
successfully, but can not PING win2000 from winNT and got
a message "Request timed out". I can PING router from both
win2000 and winNT with no problem. I think maybe win2000
is not setup properly.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Any help is very appreciated.

Thanks
Harry

Hello,

Do you have a personal firewall installed on the win2000 machine?
That may be blocking the ping responses.

From the windows 2000, are you able to ping an internet address? Use
a web browser?

Steve,

Thanks a lot. You are right. After I stop the firewall
service, PING works.
