Have a system that lockup. winXP(home)
Did get TM opened(ctrl-alt-delete) and it showed under applications
"several" TM's running. Also opened was PSP(Paint Shop Pro) and Word and
they were 'not responding'.
I closed everything down(end task) and restarted system. Things seem to
running ok but wondering why that would have happened and should I be
concerned or was it a "fluke"?
Had been scanning a lot of large .jpg files.
Could that be the video card(64mg) overloaded? Been thinking about upgrading
the card.

Thoughts/suggestions please,

L.

Can you replicate the situation? If not, don't worry about it, if you
can, then troubleshooting starts.

If it was a one time thing, I wouldn't worry about it. If it happens too
often though, then it's worth looking into. "Stuff happens" but it
shouldn't happen often or more than once the same way <g>.

Thanks for the info.
This is my wife's system and it's starting to run slow again today. Did
check for virus', spyware, etc., etc.
She's scanning old photos for publishing in a book meaning she is scanning @
300+dpi making the photos very large compared to what she "normally" works
with. She has scanned literally hundreds of photos @ 75-100dpi for
cataloging without a problem/slowdown.

Here's the system.
2.2 GHz, 512 m ram
winxp(home)
80G HD (~25% full) ((cleanup daily, defrag weekly-if needed)
64 meg video card
19" flat screen (8ms response time)

I keep going back to video card but that may be a wrong thought. Thought
about increasing mem to 1GB.

IF we were going to update anything, what would it be and would it help?
Both or neither???

again thanks for any suggestions,
