Taskbars & Toolbars

Paul

I was having problems with my mouse yesterday and somehow
managed to really screw up my Windows taskbar at the
bottom of the screen. Trying to correct it using "help"
has only made it worse. Here's how it used to work and
what I'd like to return to: The taskbar was only as high
as the Start button. To the right of start button was my
quick launch toolbar. At the far right of the taskbar
was the system try which displayed only the time (no day
and date). In between the quick launch toolbar and the
system tray is where programs that are running appear if
you minimize their window. Only one program showed at a
time here and I had up and down arrows to flip through
all of the minimized program windows. But now it's
messed up; here's what's happening now. The running
programs that are minimized each show up individually on
the taskbar, so there's no flipping through to find
them. If I turn quick launch toolbar back on however,
the toolbar doubles in height, with the minimized
programs showing up on the bottom line, and quick launch
on the top line. Something else that changed was that
instead of just the time over in the system tray, it's
displaying day and date also. I cannot click and drag
the toolbar to lower it's height; the only thing I can do
is turn off quick launch. What do I need to do to return
to the way things were?

Use this tool to repair your taskbar...
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/taskbarplus!.htm

Then, to group your taskbar buttons,
- Right-click [Start] button
- | Properties |
- /Taskbar\
- [Y] Group similar taskbar buttons
