Have you perhaps inadvertently extended your Quick Launch toolbar too far
to the right?

You may need to right click and check that the taskbar is not locked
before you are able to tell, so that the border of the Quick Launch
toolbar becomes visible when the taskbar is unlocked.

If you have indeed extended it too far to the right you an rectify
matters by simply dragging the border of the Quick Launch toolbar back
leftwards again.

Try this. Move your mouse slowly across the length of the taskbar until you
see the cursor become a double arrow. Then, depress the left mouse button
and drag to the left or the right, you'll have to judge based on what
happens when you do this, until things return to a more normal appearance
for you.

LOL, uh, yeah, that would help! At least check to be sure it's not locked.
