taskbar

For some reason when i open windows, like internet explorers or windows
explorer etc.., the taskbar wont display taskbar buttons for these
applicaitons. The taskbar itself is still present, just it won't display
taskbar buttons. Does anyone know how to change this?? I have windows 2000
home edition

What happens if you logon as a new user? (create a new account in 'User and
Passwords').

Rightclick the taskbar/Properties/Check "Always on top".
