Hello,
I am wondering if anyone else is having a problem with their Taskbar not
showing open windows, after installing June's batch of Microsoft "Critical
Updates".
I am running XP Pro, and have done two things on Tuesday night... one, I had
my computer automatically install this month's batch of Microsoft "Critical
Updates" (there were 8 of them). Also, I checked for updates to Windows
Media Player, and a window popped up saying there was an update... but what
it did was re-install WMP10 (which screwed up my DRM, but that's fixed now).
But for some reason, whether or not I unlock my Taskbar, I cannot see the
buttons for open windows! I've tried to shut off the QuickLaunch toolbar,
but that flat-lines the Taskbar and I can't restore it. I've tried deleting
the "ITBar" lines in the Registry, but that doesn't do anything. And worst
of all, I can't resize the QuickLaunch toolbar... when I minimize open
windows, the windows "animate" but they animate BETWEEN the Start button and
the QuickLaunch toolbar, and then disappear. Of course, I can ALT-TAB
between open windows, but I'd really like to have my Taskbar back the way it
was.
I'm guessing it was something in one of the 8 Critical Updates for June,
because all was absolutely fine UNTIL I installed those Critical Updates.
Can someone at Microsoft look into this and provide some insight to this
problem?
