Taskbar Jumps Out when I play video clip or mp3 or start applications

1. I have my taskbar on autohide, and always on top

2. I have moved the taskbar to the very edge of the desktop, so it's
virtually hidden and ONLY jumps out * i stress ONLY* when I mouse to the
edge

My problem is that the taskbar will jump out when my mouse is nowhere near
it. It happens when I play a video or mp3 or start an application.

When the taskbar jumps out I can see the application's icon on the taskbar
flashing, suggesting that what is happening is that because the taskbar's
state has changed XP thinks users would like to have it maximized so they
can see the change. NOT!

It is very annoying. What can I do to stop it from jumping out except when
put the mouse over it? It does nothing but cover up a quarter of the
desktop and I have to click on the taskbar icon or on the active window to
make it disappear.

Thanks!

Hi Adley,
For Taskbar properties, select "Lock the Taskbar".

For Taskbar properties, select "Lock the Taskbar".

But I don't want to lock the taskbar.

I want it to conveniently vanish I don't need it, and when I do need it I
simply hover the mouse to the edge of the screen and out it comes, and
when I mouse away, poof, it's gone.

Also, I size the taskbar really, really big, about 1/3 to half of the
screen space, so to lock that would mean my desktop would become a really
cramped square box.
