Hello,

I read the other questions with interest but could not find one similar to
mine: one of our users has her task panes displaying horizontally!!! We
tried moving it, closing and opening Word, etc. No can do.

Windows XP and Office 2003.

Thanks,
Hélène

The task pane has a "title bar", and at the left end of the title bar is a
stack of three dots. Position the mouse cursor over the dots, so the cursor
changes to a four-way arrow. Click there and drag to the upper right part of
the Word window, approximately where the top of the vertical scrollbar is.
You may have to drag almost out of the window. The task pane should re-dock
on the right.

The task pane, the toolbars, and the menu bar can all be docked on any of
the four sides of the window, or floated in the middle, in the same way.

This can be very perplexing. It is possible to drag it back to the side, but
it takes a bit of trial and error to get it to just the point where it will
dock. ISTR that if you try to dock it at the top corner of the screen, it
won't work; you have to dock it below the existing toolbars (or maybe it was
the other way around).

Hi Hélène,

If the cursor didn't turn into a four-way arrow, you haven't found the stack of
dots in the top left corner.

With the left mouse button pressed, drag the work pane down. It may take a few
seconds until something happens.

Docking it at the right-hand side again is tricky, as Suzanne said. For me, it
works when I drag the mouse cursor to the top right corner of the screen, and
then slide it down along the right edge.

Good luck!
Klaus
