Hello,
I briefly looked at my friend's computer, and although I have seen and
resolved this problem previously, I can't remember what I did (was so
long ago.)
I'm not sure if she has Home or Pro, but it is a small business, so
maybe Pro. There are no service packs TMK, but she does Windows Updates
(over dialup), and she uses antivirus provided by her ISP, SBC.
Anyway, when she presses Ctrl-Alt-Del, instead of getting the "Windows
Security" window where you can choose log off, task mgr, etc., she gets
a Task Mgr window with only one usage and usage history. (Can't
remember if it's CPU or PF, as I looked so quickly and didn't write
down.) There is no title bar or menus, and of course, right-clicking
the Task Mgr window does not bring up any options. The only way to get
rid of the Task Mgr is to power cycle the machine.
IIRC, there is a simple fix for this. Can anyone help me out here?
Once we get this fixed, I will scan for spyware, defrag, create an image
and then install SP2 (and finally make a second image). But I'd like to
help her out ASAP with this Task Mgr prob.
TIA and Regards,
Margaret
