Task Manager

I may have posted to wrong discussion group, but maybe
someone can help. I am somewhat limited in my knowledge
of computers, but realize that my task manager has alot
of processes running on it. Are all these processes
necessary. I have counted 33 different processes running
through task manager. The questions I have are these:
1. Are all these processes necessary to run my computer?
2. How do I remove them from my task manager
3. Are all these processes started up when I start my
computer?
4. Is this why my pc is getting slower and slower on
start up?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

i also am learning the different methods of making my puter faster...as far as i can see,u can click Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Scheduled Tasks, then once there on the Advanced button,u can stop using,or pause the task scheduler.the other way i have found to stop, pause,or resume services is to click Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services....then a list comes up that u scroll thru....right click on any of these to view it's Properties...the properties dialog box enables u to stop or restart a service...and also tells u what dependencies it has to other services...i myself don't have any scheduled tasks assigned to my puter
