task manager & running programs

I just sent in a message under "Basics"
sorry but I do not know how to use Or where to find any
replies to my query.
I have windows xp & do not have running programs listed
under 'Applications' in the Task manager so that I
cannot 'end task'.
I do have the list of running prog. shown
under 'Processes' with the option of 'exit process' which
brings up a warning.
Please help...with an e-mail.Appreciate!

If you don't have any applications open, you won't have an applications listing.
