Task Bar loads slow

When booting into Windows XP Home Edition the user has to
wait about two minutes while the taskbar loads. When you
move the cursor over the taskbar it turns into an hourglass
and you can't open the Start menu, etc. I have tried
removing everything from the Startup folder and even edited
the regisitry to remove some Run lines but I can't figure
out what is causing this delay.

Any troubleshooting ideas I could try to eliminate this
long delay?

Did you try using Task Manager to see if there are any processes that are
hanging up on you?

Yeah, I looked at Task Manager and didn't see anything
unusual in there. Nothing is hanging up and I don't see
anything strange in Processes either. I think I'll look at
Event Viewer and see if there is anything in there that
could be a clue.

Let me guess, you have a Symantec product like Norton AV
or systemworks running on your computer?
