Task Bar and Excel

Hi all,

A friend has Windows XP Home with office97 and when he opens more than one
workbook, only one Excel icon appears in the bottom task bar. There is a
setting within Task Bar properties to group similar prgm's together (can't
quite remember what that's called), but this is deselected and fiddling with
this does not fix the problem. (I personally have window 98 and that option
is not available, but every workbook opened shows separately on the taskbar
as it should.)

I don't have access to Excel 97, but according to
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;230684
Word 97 did not have the ability to have multiple buttons in the taskbar.
Perhaps the same thing with Excel?

Is the person going through File->Open to open the files? What happens if
they double-click on an Excel file, then minimize Excel and then double-click

Looks like Office 2000 and later have the multiple buttons in the Taskbar.

Office/Excel 97 does not support "Windows on Taskbar".

2000 was first to contain this feature AKAIK.
