TAP.exe and new components

Hi,

I try to explain my problem to see if somebody understand me.

I create a file *.pmq with the tap.exe sofware. All is ok.
I import this file with component designer and I have a few warnings.
The messages says that don't found the specific driver for specific
hardware that I have.
If I continue the with the image, in target designer, I will found a
new warning in this component. The warning says "unrelased component".

Then, how I can include the specific hardware in database?
I make a image succefully, but this don't recognizes me the video card,
specific card about input and output, hasp-usb... nothing.

I hope that I explain well, becauce my inglish is goodable.

Thanks,

David

You will need to check for components for your hardware available from
your hardware manufacturer, or made available on XPeFiles.com or other
similar sites. If there are none, you will need to create these
components yourself.

Can you then manually install the XPPro drivers for these devices and
get them working?

Hi Adora Belle Dearheart,

My hardware works well in Windows XP.
Is it possible that I should to donwload a specific drivers? I don't

Do you know some place where I can find a good manual about Windows XP
Embedded?

Really Thanks,

Many manufacturers will also provide XPe components for their drivers.
Check their web sites.

There's XP Embedded Step by Step written by James Beau Cseri and Windows
XP Embedded Advanced by our own Sean Liming. There is also an awful lot
of information on MSDN and available by searching this group with google
groups.

Yes, you will want to download the drivers that the import of the PMQ didn't
find.

If your hardware manufacturer sent you a drivers CD, you can get the drivers
off the CD. The INF files are the best starting point. If you want to
install the drivers post-FBA than you can do that as well so long as
installer support has been included in the image.

Hi,

I'm sorry, but I am new to XP as well.

How do you know *when* to create a new driver, i.e. how do you know that the
PMQ didn't find those specific drivers?

Thanks,
Kelly

Kelly,

When you import the PMQ into Component Designer, there is a place to enter a
log file, manually, before you start the import process. After the import is
completed, open the log file and scroll to the bottom to see the list of
drivers the import process could not find. These are the drivers that need
to be componentized or installed post-FBA.
