tallying survey results

I am doing a spreadsheet where I am tallying yes/no responses of a survey.
What formula can I use that would be easiest to make a "check" for each yes
and no response, giving the total?

You are a little thin on details but in general you can use these formulas
CountIf, SumProduct
or you could use a pivot table. Without more info it is hard to comment on
which might be most appropriate. What does your data look like?
