Table Pixel Size/Browser Window Size

C.R. Smith

In sizing the width of tables at 100% on a 14" monitor
screen seems to about correspond to a table 750 pixels
wide with a small margin on each side. Is there any
calculation or rule-of-thumb to use in sizing table width
in pixel terms for a 15" or larger monitor? Thanks.

It is not the size of the monitor, it is the resolution that has been set
for the monitor.

If you are going design based on pixels, then you have to be concerned about
the lowest resolution that you will think will be viewing your site.

750 pixels is good because most users will be able to see it without
scrolling left to right. I design all of my sites at 750 pixels centered.

If you design based on % then you page will adjust to fix the browser's
window. However content will shift as need to fit the browser's window.
