Table of Content

I created a table of content in one word document. Now every word document I
open has the symbols for table of content. How do I turn off table of content
except for the one document I want the table to be in?

The phrase "symbols for table of content" doesn't mean anything to me. Can
you describe this more clearly?

Yeah, it surprised me, too. First time I've seen a pilcrow referred to as a
"TOC symbol."
