Table not in List to Append to

I must be missing something really obvious, but I want to append some
rows to a table I've created, but when I change my query type to
Append, the list of tables I can choose to append to omits the table I
want, while showing the others.

The one I want to append to does appear if I try to show a table to
select from (but it has nothing in it yet).

What could prevent the table from being available to append to?

Thanks.

MIG,
this can happen with A2003 with SP3 and hotfix - if the table you want is
the first one on your list of tables.
The work around is to create a new dummy table with a name like A1.
This new dummy table goes to the top of the list and when you want to append
to your other table you should be able to see it in the list.

An update to this. I renamed the problem table, and then it appeared
in the list of those that I could append to, but one of the others
disappeared.

I think I have worked out the context of the bug. The drop-down when
you try to select a table to append to doesn't include the first table
in alphabetical order. This was only particularly noticeable when I
had a very small number of tables.

Thanks, this has crossed with my realisation that this must be
something to do with the first alphabetical filename.

Unfortunately, the Google Groups archive seems to be about a day out
of date at the moment, so my follow-up to my own message won't appear
for a while (nor will this).
