systray pop-ups

How do I disable pop-ups from the systray thumbnails? For
example, when a wireless card identifies a network
connection I do not want to see y info bubble from the
systray informing me of this. Similarly, Outlook 2003
pops up an info bubble for every email received. Is this
all application specific or is it a general setting?

Go to:

Download and install TweakUI, one of the Microsoft Powertoys for Windows XP.
Once installed, click the Start button/All Programs/Powertoys for Windows
XP/TweakUI. When TweakUI opens, in the left pane click to highlight Taskbar
and Start Menu, and in the right pane click to REMOVE the checkmark to the
left of: Enable Balloon Tips. Then click the APPLY and OK buttons. Reboot
your system and the annoying Balloon Tips will be gone. TweakUI for Windows
XP has many other useful tweaks to customize your Windows XP for your needs.
