Make sure there is a full and complete backup of all important data. You
should always have a full and complete backup.

I suggest you use something like ERUNT to make a backup of the registry on a
daily basis. Set it up so the registry can be easily restored, if needed,
by booting into the recovery console. See these links for info on getting
ERUNT and setting it up.
