System32 window appears during system startup

Sorry if this has been asked before but just recently just
before the startup process finishes a System32 window
opens and remains on the desktop. Obviously it is showing
the contents of the System32 directory but no folders or
files are highlighted.

I think this is indicating a problem somewhere, but where?
How can I resolve the 'problem'? and how do I stop the
window opening each startup?

Jim the frustrated!!

Greetings --

This can be caused by a blank entry, such as can be left behind by
an incomplete program removal, in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and/or
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys. It can also
be caused by an entry in these same keys that starts with a " / ."
