I've occasionally gotten this problem 'System won't boot, missing file'
"C:\Windows\System32\System."

Can anyone tell me what the file is it's referring to ? "System.???"

Thank you

Hello,

Is this the message you're getting?
Windows XP could not start because the following file is missing or
corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
Note the path has the folder 'Config" in it.

If so, this indicates a corrupted Registry, and you would not want to
let it go. You would want to System Restore to a time before the
problem occurred, or check out this article:

It means that the System portion of your Windows registry is
damaged or missing.

Yes, you're right it did have 'Config' in it.

Thank you for your reply. I'll have to read up about it.

Thank you to Bruce too.
