For some time now, my Win XP Pro system slows to an
agonizing crawl whenever I am connected to the Internet.
I am including all functions, including printing,
openining and closing windows, etc. It acts as if it's in
molasses! The system is a PIII 866 with 512 MB of RAM .
and used to run just fine. I can't pinpoint when it
changed. System tools state there is no need to defrag,
and HD is 84% free, so no problems there. Using a Zoom
USB modem, analogue dial up V.90, same as I always have.
I haven't installed anything new or upgraded anything for
some time, probably not for a year, but this problem is
only in the last few months. It makes the computer almost
unusable while connected to the internet. Even
disconnecting takes several minutes. I would appreciate
any suggestions. Thanks.
