System Tray doesn't open?

Hello,

I think it's called the System Tray (?) on the Task Bar and there used to be
a button if you pointed & clicked on it it would open.

Now, there is no button.

I've looked into the Control Panel & re-checked all of my Taskbar Options &
still cannot get that 'button' back. I especially need it because I use a
Laptop & had the battery shown and now I don't know what % of power I have.

Can some one help me?

Do you want to see the hide/unhide inactive icons button?

Control Panel > Taskbar and Start Menu > Taskbar tab > Hide inactive icons

Do you want to see the power options button?

Control Panel > Power Options > Advanced tab > Always show icon on the
taskbar

Do you want a warning about low battery power?

Press F1 and create a search from this phrase: Set a warning alarm for a
low or critical battery condition

NO. To all of the last Poster's answers.

Let me try this again:

BETWEEN the Taskbar & Notification area is a 'Button' with an < in it. Ok?

That < Button is NOT there any longer.

How do I get the < Button Back??

FIXED THE PROBLEM:

Free Software (Ad-Aware2007) was @ FAULT !

Un-Installed that software AND my < Button is back AND my Power/Source; be
it the Battery Icon or the Adapter Icon is now Visible AGAIN, in the
Navigation area.

LESSON LEARNED: Always proform a 'System Restore' B/4 installing ANY New
Software - AND always revert back to the prior 'System Restore' if there are
any negative changes to your system!

Yes, but the individual icon setting "Hide when inactive" changes
according to the way the wind is blowing, and I've seen the hide/show
button come and go for no apparent reason as well. It's about the only
intermittent behaviour from Microsoft code on my system.
