System Shutdown

If anyone reading this can help me I would certainly
appreciate it!!! I am running Windows XP and am also
getting a system shutdown error message which says that
the system is shutting down and that it is being initiated
by the NT authority system and that it must restart
because the remote procedure call service terminated
unexpectedly. The computer then reboots and goes through
the process all over again! It will reboot O.K. if I
disconnect my ethernet cable modem, but as soon as I
reconnect my modem I get the error message again! I also
sometimes get a generic host process for win32 services
has encountered a problem and needs to close prior to
getting the system shutdown message.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction,
pleeeeeeaaaassseee!!! Thanks for anyones help!
