system restore wont work

i tried doing a system restore thinking it might fix some problems. I go
through it and select a date. I'm supposed to be able to click next to start
it, and nothing happens...i can go back, but when i hit next it don't start.
any suggestions??

You could Reinstall System Restore but that would not help you fix your
problems. Reinstalling System Restore results in the loss of existing
restore points.
