After upgrading from xp home edition to xp professional
(both partitions), My main directory C: does not have
system restore on it. I get an error message "The
procedure entry point RemoteAssitancePrepareSystemRestore
could not be located in the dynamic link library
WINSTA.dll." when I try to access system restore.

You can turn it off from Control Panel > System > and then
re-boot and it will purge it's file. Then re-boot, turn it
back on.
And try this if the above does not work.

1. Put the in the Windows XP CD
2. Click Start , Run
3. Type the following then OK

rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf

You can also open Windows Explorer, go to
C:\Windows\Inf folder and right-click sr.inf (Then Install)
