System restore: daily automatic checkpoint stopped

I recently created a new check point in System Restore,
and downloaded a number of Windows XP updates. My
computer reacted badly so I restored my system to the
previous settings using System Restore Wizard. Since then
I find System Restore will not create an automatic
checkpoint each day: I have to create a checkpoint
manually. There is absolutely nothing in Help and Support
to tell me how I can put this back to daily automatic
checkpoints.

Any advice would be welcome. However I have a laptop and
therefore do not have a Windows XP disk as a separate
feature.

Kelly has a downloadable registry fix at line 43, right "create a
system restore point as a task". You might also want to see whether
she has anything pertinent to your situation in her A-Z area.
