System Restore backup points

I thought that XP System Restore set restore points
automatically every 24 hours or 10 hours continuous use. I
am finding that the only restore points set are those set
when new software is loaded or when I manually set a
restore point. Is anyone able to advise me how to setup
automatic restore points?

Rstrui.exe is what loads your Restore points . Read this & see if you have
it set up correctly .

1. In My Computer, click the Tools menu -> Folder Options.
2. On the View tab, make sure to check the option "Hide extensions for known file types".
3. Click OK.
4. Click the Start menu -> Run. Type: " %windir%\inf " (Without quotation
marks) in the Open field. Click OK.
5. Locate and select the file " sr.inf ". Right-click it and then click Install.

Carey,

I did as you suggested and System Restore established a
System Checkpoint when I rebooted. I had set a task in
Task Scheduler to establish a restore point each time I
logon but this does not seem to happen. Are there any
Utility programs that might mess up the restore function?
I have Norton Systemworks loaded for example.

Thanks anyway for your advice.
