system reboot failure at successful application of Recovery CD

I have an HP Pavilion notebook. I recovered the system using the HP system
Recovery DVD for this notebook. The recovery took several hours and long
after taking out the disks the system was still automatically installing
software. The last thing to happen is a blue screen saying "A problem has
been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your
computer". I have tried this 3 times on 2 different SATA disks. I ran the
disk diagnositics in SETUP aso I know there isn't a problem with the disk
drive. Is there something else that I can try? Is the problem to do with
the Hp recovery CDs?

Try a RAM test
