If I understand your post correctly, you are trying to get to a System Prompt or "Command Prompt"
In Windows operating systems this is achieved by clicking START -> RUN
In the Open box: type "CMD" without the quotes and then press enter.
The black backround window that opens with a flashing cursor at the end of the line is the "system prompt."
It is not the same as a UNIX prompt, which is a totoally different Operating System.
