SYSTEM Process

I noticed recently that the Task Manager shows the following process:

Image name: System
User Name: SYSTEM
CPU: 13
Mem usage 212 k

This process runs all the time, at times the CPU figure goes up to 23 or 14,
but never stops.

Would anyone know what this process does? On my other PC at work it is
there, but the CPU stands at 00.

Thanks

Try to unplug your Zip Drive from you parallel port.
Warning: Do it will your computer is off. Then boot Windows.

If you have no Zip drive... hum don't know sorry.

System process is a standard process required for windows to utilise basic
CPU / System functions.

You can't get rid of it. Signs of heavy usage indicate that some program or
hardware device is using the SYSTEM to do something.

Take a look at all your processes carefully and see if you can make some
sense of it.

Thanks, I followed your advice, it solved the problem. Is there any way to
use the Zip drive without re-introducing the same problem?
