System Performance

My System Idle Process is running at 95% to 98% slowing my computer
dramatically. It's a brand new computer and ran like lightening until
started installing the 2007 software and/or something else happened. I'm
running 2007 Microsoft Office Professional 2007 on a Gateway MX6426
Notebook with AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology ML-40.
Operates at 2.2GHz. Memory: 1024 MB DDR
Hard Drive: 80 GB PATA 4200 RPM

I'm defragged and done everything I know of to find the glich but nothing
changes. I'm ready to uninstall everything and start over and I really
don't want to do that.

Can anyone help?!?!?

The System Idle process is what runs when nothing else is running. 95% -
98% usage for it is what you *want*.

I assume you are complaining about Office 2007. What parts run slow?
What are you doing when they do? How quickly do you *expect* them to
run? What are you comparing their performance with?

System idle process at 95% to 98% means exactly that - the system is
idle and the CPU has absolutely nothing to do for 95% to 98% of the
time. It is just a placeholder to account for the portion of the CPU
time that is not being utilized.

You could try uninstalling Office 2007 and then reinstalling it. And
be sure to get any and all of the relevant updates for Office 2007
from the Microsoft Update site.

Good luck
